About Greg Holzwarth

I live at the nexus of marketing, advanced analytics and big data. For over 30 years I have lead cross-functional teams leveraging client information, analytics and direct marketing programs to drive revenue and customer growth. The marketing programs we manage at SunTrust deliver over $100MM incremental revenue annually and billions of incremental loan and deposit balances. Additionally we built and manage the most widely used data warehouses and analytics capabilities.Prior to SunTrust, I led the Commercial Division at Epsilon, providing database marketing and analytic services to Fortune 500 companies in the technology, retail, financial services, telecom, healthcare, and consumer package goods industries. A highlight was migrating American Express’ card member marketing system to bleeding edge parallel processing technology in the early 90s, providing a 15x increase in queries and models executed.My professional passion is taking action on analytics. Instead of simply informing decisions, directing and informing customer interactions to build deeper and longer lasting relationships. Taking action requires more than seamless integration of the information technology, analytics, and delivery of insight to the point of customer interactions. It also requires change management - across marketing, sale management, distribution channel management, and executive leadership. I have the experience and skills to sell the vision, and then execute the delivery.My current focus is using big data and real time analytics to delivery relevant, compelling messages and offers across on-us and off-us channels. I am a frequent speaker at marketing, analytics and financial service industry conferences and have been a guest lecturer at MIT’s Sloan School of Management.It’s been a fascinating journey, starting before PCs existed and CRM was an acronym.
