CurrentAssist in the management of the $16.7M Parks and Recreation Fund, with direct oversight of all parks and facility development projects, as well as maintenance activities for City facilities, parks, greenspaces, and parking decks. Key responsibilities include:-Maintain 1,600+ acres of city-owned greenspace, 77 parks, 46 playgrounds, 66,000 trees, and a 100+ acre cemetery.-Manage maintenance for 12 recreation facilities, including a 185,000 sq. ft. recreation center, nature center, three splash pads, three aquatic facilities.-Lead a team of 41 full-time, 14 part-time, and 228 seasonal staff across divisions, with 8 direct reports.-Oversee park development, capital projects, equipment, vehicle purchases.-Execute the 2023 Parks and Recreation Master Plan, addressing ADA deficiencies identified in the audit.-Administer RFPs/bids and manage contracts totaling $1.9M for various services, including facility security, mowing, forestry operations.-Administer the Community Resource Program, contributing over $300,000 in volunteer hours and no-cost restitution labor annually.-Supervise maintenance for 4 parking decks with 1,200+ spaces in the Central Business District.-Partner with non-profit stakeholder groups on public property facility improvement projects and maintenance.-Manage the 10-year vegetation management and restoration project at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center.-Develop budgets, monitor expenditures, develop policies approved by the City Council.-Prepare memos, provide budget recommendations, present to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and City Council.-Plan and implement short- and long-term goals for departments and divisions.-Liaise with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Sustainability Commission, Downtown Neighborhood Association. -Manage payroll, employee discipline, evaluations, and other personnel functions.-Develop operational policies and prepare various records and reports.
