Working at the department of Analytical Chemistry.My research project is part of a large-scale consortium (COAST) focused on creating factories of the future, by both understanding and controlling chemical processes.

Working on the NWO Vici Project "Diagnostics for Latent Class Analysis."The main focus of my research is developing methods to obtain reliable p-values to assess model fit. For example, One of the things I have developed is a method to calibrate the posterior predictive p-value, such that it has better frequentist properties. Simply put, that p-value can now be easily interpreted in any situation (a rather handy property, which it did not previously have).All in all, I use hybrid methods which combine frequentist and Bayesian principles and ideas. I very much envision a Statistical ''laissez fair" approach, in which statisticians choose what works, from whichever framework they please, rather than excluding methods because they simply are, for instance, 'Bayesian' and they don't agree with its interpretation of what parameters are (or don't quite understand that idea).Throughout the last few years I have also come to learn a thing or two about the hot topic called Data Science. In a lab group, set up in our department, we focused on the statistical models which are used in many of the Data Science applications. One fascinating aspect in that field is that, as Stefan Wager from Stanford University put it, there is a large gap between what practice shows us and what the theory about the methods can explain. It's a fascinating field where often answers are found to questions which are not even posed. I have also assisted in teaching courses, with the main focus on Path analysis, Principal Component Analysis and Factor Analysis (and their combination under the name Structural equation modelling). I set up a web-panel for Sportvisserij Zuidwest Nederland to investigate recreational fishing in a large part of the Netherlands. Also I digitalised evaluation forms and analysed evaluations for external organizations. Furthermore I co-development the Tilburg University Career Portal, of which I was the Administrator for the first 9 months
