Gia creates, teaches and performs with relentless devotion and attention- bridging her Vedic practices with her life as artist and teacher. She continues to expand her healing and teaching practice to include more of the Vedic sciences, focusing on women's health, in collaboration with forms of meditation, mantra, Vedic astrology, yogic living & asana practices.She is the artistic director of Alchemical Studios with Carlo Altomare, at 50 West 17th St in Manhattan- which warmly provides seven beautiful whitebox studios for rehearsal, teaching & photography, including three performance spaces. After meeting at The Living Theatre in 2010, she joined founder Carlo Altomare in re-establishing The Alchemical Theatre (1981-).Gia has also been teaching piano, singing and acting for 30 years. She is a productive poet and accomplished theatre dancer, specializing in the repertoire of Bob Fosse. A former company member of General Mischief Dance Theatre in NYC. She received her BA in psychology/English from NYU, honors in classical voice/piano from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, with further pre-medical studies at Columbia University. Gia also spent some intermittent years working in neuroscience at NYU Medical Center. Much of her ritual of study is devoted to researching and practicing Ayurvedic medicine as well as teaching meditation– in which she finds a deep confluence with her theatrical vision.
