Gia is the President & CEO of EcoPlum, Inc. She has a deep commitment to helping combat environmental challenges through two organizations that she founded: EcoPlum®, a social enterprise established in 2007, and Sustainable Sisters™, a non-profit launching in 2024. EcoPlum offers branded marketing solutions to help universities, businesses and organizations integrate sustainable values into their programs and practices. EcoPlum, a certified B Corporation, brands and customizes its curated Sustainable Swag® line of eco-friendly promotional products with clients’ logos, taglines or messages. EcoPlum helps buyers make responsible choices on branded gifts – a visible symbol of their values – with the goal of reducing plastic and other harmful waste in our landfills and oceans. EcoPlum is also certified nationally and in New York State and New York City as a women-owned business and is a Green America “Gold” approved business. Prior to founding EcoPlum, Gia was President of MMC 20/20 Systems, Inc. In 1998, Gia co-founded Plan Data Management, Inc. (PDM), and grew it into a thriving software and data services provider servicing Fortune 500 companies. PDM was acquired by a public company in 2006. Gia’s professional experience also includes management consulting with the Machlin Consulting Group and Deloitte & Touche, and sales and marketing with Unisys and AT&T.Gia received her M.B.A. with honors from the Columbia Business School and she received her B.S. in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research with honors from Columbia Engineering. Gia is a long time member of the Women Presidents’ Organization and a founding member of the Columbia Business School Alumni Club’s Sustainable Business Committee. She is co-chair of the NYC Young Enterprising Women Mentoring Forum. Gia serves as Board Chair of the Blue Card, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides cash assistance to needy Holocaust survivors. She was an active volunteer in NYC public schools for 14 years. Gia is a recipient of the 2020 Enterprising Women of the Year Award.She lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with her husband Corey and their dogs Pepperand Augie, Her son Noah is a software executive living in the West Village. Her daughter Taliais a student at the University of Colorado. Her parents (Eugene Machlin, deceased, 100, andEdda Servi Machlin, deceased, 93) continue to be her inspiration.
