Tuscan by birth, the bond that ties my family to the culture of fine Italian wine goes back generations: at the beginning of the Nineteenth century, my great-grandfather was the first Chianti importer in Colombia, while my father Enrico, who worked in the hôtellerie business, was personally selecting the labels for his restaurants and hotels in Florence. It was inside our family wine cellar that I first saw a bottle of Brunello Biondi-Santi. A 1964 Riserva. In my mind, there is no doubt that the story of my family has inspired me to choose a life of wine myself.I have travelled the world for study, for work and for pleasure, but I am grateful that today, after a long career in Tuscan wine, I find myself as head of that winery which in the Eighteen-hundreds founded Brunello di Montalcino. The story of Biondi-Santi and that of the territory of Montalcino are intimately intertwined, and it is my challenge and privilege to accompany this iconic winery on its path towards the future, for the good of Biondi-Santi and for the good of Montalcino.
