Prototypes Department builds and tests mechanical components and assembled groups designed by VE&D Engineering Dept. Main customer is OTO MELARA, a FINMECCANICA Company. CS Dept. builds and tests mechanical components; a short list showing 2012-2013 main realizations goes as follows : - automatic ammunition loading systems fitting 127/64 mm OTO MELARA naval gun;- hitrole turrets : aluminium cube-shaped boxes, fitted with safety hatch, storing electronics and ammunitions for 12,7 mm OTO MELARA machine gun, to be installed upon them;- tilting device : fully engineered by VE&D, is assembled under the hitrole turret to allow the machine gun to fire at very close range from the ship, against asymmetric threats;- gear boxes fitting 40/70 mm OTO MELARA twin naval guns; the boxes identify gun no-fire spaces on board. Prototype Dept. provides all the components and is directly responsible for their assembly, and preliminary tests on the systems. The same for the documents to be annexed to deliver the groups, regarding the manufacturing activities : welding (WPS, WPQR), foundrying (X-Ray check), machining (measurements with 3D machines), coating and painting (Treatment Certificate), Materials Certificates (steels and aluminium alloys), assemblying cycles(Production phases), Certificates of Conformity, etc.

The Company specializes in applying electric and mechanical fittings, and testing them, mainly on military ships. Main realizations were :- HM&E mid life works for two Kenyan Navy patrolling ships, that was refitting the whole electrical plant both for weapon and platform systems; GIE also made maintenance activities on alternators for power generation, pumps for engine cooling and lubricant recirculation, testing them (FAT, HAT and SAT tests);- levellings and alignments for naval combat system on "HORIZON" class - French and Italian Navies new frigate class;- installation of the power and fighting systems lines on the new Italian and French "FREMM" ships (in Italian : fregate multi missione), and two Indian Navy "DEEPAK" class supplying ships;- EMC shielding installation for two Finnish Navy patrolling ships MCMV 2010;- assemblying the "SAMP-T" missile-launching platforms, an EUROSAM program for Italian and French Armies.The documentation required by ISO 9001, OTO MELARA and NATO Standards was equally my task.

The Company specializes in forging and machining brass components, such as heads for hydro-polishing machines, cases for water meters, safety valves for gas applications.In the first years I was in charge of the Production Dept., involved with scheduling the machining operations mainly on Numerical Control - equipped transfer machines, performing high productivity on complex workpieces.In the following period I became the Company Quality Manager, responsible for delivering goods to customers, as well as receiving raw materials from suppliers.I was also in charge of the Metrologic Department, responsible for measurement reports sent to customers.I attended in 2004 a course at the Zeiss Metrologic Center near Venice, gaining the Certificate in 3d Measurements, by using the "Contura" machine, equipped with the "Calypso" SW.Main foreign customers were from Luxembourg, France, Germany, and Japan.

The Company produces trucks and passenger coaches, both full-range, worldwide.I was involved with mechanical production and assembly of front and rear axles, and diesel engines.My task were the industrialization of new components, that was modifying tool machinery or buying new one, in both cases testing pre-series workpieces and then starting production.This to cope with the new drawings designed by IVECO Engineering Dept.I became specialized in machining operations engine-oriented, such as the manufacturing of cylinder cans, by using lapping machines, and rolling the ends of journal and crank pins.In the final period I was in charge of the Technical Dept. for assembling diesel engines in Foggia Plant (South Italy).
