Giancarlo is a first-year student at The Honors College at Miami Dade College, pursuing an Associates in Arts with a focus in Public Administration. As an intern at the Office of M-DCPS School Board Member Luisa Santos, Giancarlo provided monthly team briefings on proposed School Board policy items, managed a group of interns to run the Office's socials, and supported the production of community and school-based events. For the 2024 Presidential Election season, Giancarlo served as an Engage the Vote Fellow with the Engage Florida Civic Fund, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization based in Miami, Florida, where he supported on-campus voter registration and voter education efforts at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus. Additionally, Giancarlo served as a poll worker with Miami-Dade County’s Elections Department for both the 2024 Primary and General Elections. Giancarlo also collaborated with Miami Dade College’s Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy (iCED) to recruit student poll workers as a Student Peer Advocate.Giancarlo’s passion for engaging youth in local government was best exemplified by his appointment as Chair of M-DCPS’ Districtwide Student Government Association’s Voting District Liaison Committee, where he uplifted the voices, opinions, and concerns of M-DCPS’ 350,000+ students to the Student Advisor to School Board, ensuring School Board members take student opinion into account when voting on policy items. Furthermore, Giancarlo served as a Committee Member on the Miami-Dade County Youth Commission, where he collaborated on drafting and presenting urgings to the Board of County Commissioners and organized community-based events promoting youth civic engagement and leadership development.
