On June 11th 2011, at the European Boxing Union Annual General Meeting in Dublin, Ireland, Malta Boxing Commission successfully applied to the EBU for recognition as the official sanctioning organisation for professional boxing in the Republic of Malta. As such Malta Boxing Commission are responsible for the development professional boxing in the Republic of Malta, to license professional boxers, trainers, managers and promoters. In addition the Malta Boxing Commission intends to attract overseas boxing promoters to hold their events in Malta.Malta Boxing Commission has applied to be registered with the all World Governing organisations for registration in order to hold World Championship events in the Republic of Malta
