Digital communication systems, with emphasis on coding and modulation techniques.Forward error correction for satellite (wireless in general) and optical communication systems.Design of low-density parity-check codes and turbo-like coding schemes for wireless communication standards (e.g. design of the forward error correction scheme employed by the DVB-RCS+M standard for satellite interactive services, and the erasure correcting codes of the CCSDS).Active participation to the DVB and the CCSDS standardization groups.In 2010 he has been appointed lecturer for channel coding at the Institute for Communications Engineering (LNT) of the Technische Universität München (TUM).In 2012 and 2013 he has been lecturing at the Najing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing (China).In 2014 he has been appointed lecturer for iterative channel coding at the Institute for Communications Engineering (LNT) of the Technische Universität München (TUM).Editor for IEEE Communications Letters (2013-2014).
