Software has the power to touch people's lives in transformative ways. It excites me deeply to contribute, lead and manage teams to create empowering products and experiences that make a difference.I hold a MS degree in CS from ETH Zurich and have been working in the Silicon Valley since 2005. I was part of the Virtualization revolution that started in that decade, worked with many different teams large and small, and have intimate experience with the many roles of software organizations, as contributor and manager.I approach software systems from a user's perspective, working from the desired experience backwards deep into the technology stack, with a particular love and appreciation for front-end engineering and web technologies. I obsess about details while keeping a project aligned with the big picture objectives.Communication, connecting people, is an important part of my life. In the early years as reporter and youth organizer, and these days as president of my alumni chapter or co-chair of the San Francisco–Zurich Sister City Committee. As an international working professional, I'm naturally drawn to learning about cultures and customs, discussing policies and trends, and observing and understanding the society I live in.Specialties: Mobile applications, Distributed software architectures, User Interfaces.

Member Of Technical StaffVmware Apr 2007 - Jun 2011Palo Alto, Ca, UsIn my early days, I joined the WebUI team to build the first full-fledged web client for managing VMware Infrastructure. It was a "Web2.0" implementation that heavily used JavaScript (Ajax) and a widget toolkit that we developed in-house (pivot.apache.org is a derived project). It was packaged with VMware Server and Virtual Infrastructure 3 morphed into vSphere Client in the succeeding iterations.I was also responsible for a .Net application that allowed remote updates of ESX hosts: a light-edition of Update Manager which was part of VMware vSphere (formerly known as VI4).Throughout my various R&D activities, I was responsible for integrating the VMware Remote Console (VMRC) into the web client, including several HTML5 prototypes that ultimately will supplant the native NPAPI browser plugin. -
