Editing is the ultimate tool to tell cohesive and emotive stories, the soul and heart of a project is found in the edit; this is what I love about editing - it is the unrivalled control of the viewers’ emotions. I am constantly striving to improve my knowledge and skill in the magic of a cut to tell stories, convey crucial messages and communicate emotion.I am Giaz, a video editor with a background in media production, visual effects and motion graphics. I’m originally from Switzerland currently living in Wales but seeking to add more stamps to my passport. I am addicted to knowledge, and love learning new things and gaining new skills. We live in a world where we are surrounded by inspirational people and places, which I why I love to travel as this exposes me to the endless forms of inspiration that surrounds us.The variety of projects I have worked on includes broadcast commercial ads, promo videos, social media content, corporate films as well as everything in between. My role includes editing, organising footage, brainstorming, filming, compositing, rotoscoping and motion graphic design. Thanks to my university course I had the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of disciplines, from camera operating to editing, project management to lighting and from motion graphics to visual effects. In my work over my three years of university, I used the power of editing to convey important messages regarding our environment, the powerful emotion of dance and also to promote sports events involving young people. I am proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, with a good level of knowledge and experience in Nuke, After Effects and Photoshop. I have a basic understanding of 3D software such as Maya and Cinema 4D, a knowledge base which I am constantly endeavouring to increase. I am also exploring and learning the basics of software packages such as Avid and DaVinci Resolve in order to add them to my ever expanding toolbox.
