As the Chief Information Officer and Information Security Officer for Sul Ross State University, I am responsible for providing technology vision, leadership and management of technology systems and services, including management of strategic and tactical activities to ensure appropriate student, faculty, and staff support, technical delivery, contract and statutory compliance, and resource management. It is my responsibility to design, develop, and implement the University’s information technology strategy and am accountable for managing the entire service delivery lifecycle. As the Information Security Officer for SRSU, I am responsible for information security and risk management in order to prevent data loss and unauthorized access to information. This includes the compliance with all state and federal regulatory mandates and industry best practices. My goal is to balance these security and risk management practices with ease of use for the campus community. I always embrace industry best practices for managing and improving the delivery of technology services. I also serve as the designated institution’s Information Resource Manager (IRM).

I am a freelance videographer and editor based in Abilene, Texas. Examples of completed projects include documentary films for the locally produced History In Plain Sight, two videos about Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society, a fund raiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Abilene and a number of other local organizations. Recently, I have completed video projects for Historicorps.org based in Colorado, the Texas Mountain Trails organization, Abilene Christian University, as well as a number of projects private individuals.

I am responsible for managing the team and processes for the installation, management and maintenance of ACU’s campus applications such as Banner, CSGold, Talisma (CRM), Liferay Portal, a mobile framework, and many others including several in-house developed applications. I am also responsible for the management of a $36,000 operational budget and co-management of the $792,000 capital budget. My duties include contract negotiations for software and support for Ellucian, Touchnet, IBM Cognos (Infolink) and others. Most recently, negotiated the transfer of DBA responsibilities from in-house to Ellucian’s Application Management Services. Finally, my role allows me to operate as a liaison to the campus for strategic technology purchases and implementations.

Worked as a consultant for mutiple petrochecmical firms in the Ohio and Houston, Texas areas. Assisted with conversion from in-house software to SAP.
