Description of Work Responsibilities:-Provide broad-spectrum, brief psychological assessment, counseling and psychotherapy, case management, and crisis intervention to students both at the Counseling and Student Health Centers. -In close collaboration with the Director, share in providing leadership and coordination to the Counseling Center’s provision of urgent services, including after-hours emergency services, management and assignment of crisis cases, mandated “risk to self or others” assessments, and other similar services. -Participate in Wellness training programs by providing training to interns and other trainees who in the area of urgent services. In the absence of the Director, serve as the Counseling Center’s representative for the Sensitive Issues Team, Critical Incident Response Team, Students Assistance Coordinating Committee, and other similar groups. -Provide consultations to students, faculty, and staff and fulfill other Wellness responsibilities as indicated and assigned. -Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed staff psychologists, as assigned by the Director.

Description of Work Responsibilities-Provide wide range of individual and group clinical services-Coordinator of Group Services-Wellness Area Liaison to various campus partners, including Residental Life, USD TRIO programs (a number of scholarship programs for traditionally under-represented students on campus, including Student Support Services, McNair Scholars Program, etc.), etc.-Collaborative Care Mental Health Consultant at the Student Health Center-Coordinator and Clinical Liaison for Point and Click Solutions Electronic Medical Record Software

-Provided multicultural competent brief therapy (5-10 sessions) to undergraduate and graduate students.-Developed and Co-led “Our Experience: Managing Our Multiple Identities,” a process group for Gay Men of Color. Served as a liaison to the Queer People of Color (Q-POC) and Zawadi student organizations through the Offices of Gender Equity (GenEq). -Held drop-in counseling/consultation services at the Cesar Chavez Student Center (housing the student learning center and multiple multicultural student development offices). Provided crisis counseling and consultation. -Provided training on “Working with Students in Distress” to various student staff services (i.e. Residential Advisor, Student Health Workers, GSI, SLAS/EOP Peer Advisors, etc.). -As Career Apprentice to Career Program, provided career development/career exploration outreach to TRIO programs (a number of scholarship programs for traditionally under-represented students on campus), “I-Office” (an office that provides support to international students), and various other departments on campus.

Co-facilitated 4 to 12 intensive group sessions a week of cognitive rehabilitation for traumatic brain injured patients. Additional responsibilities included individual counseling to reinforce established goals and discuss strategies to translate these inside and outside of group, as well as discuss in more depth the thinking problems experienced and assist in helping the clients cope with the changes that have occurred since the brain injury. Also, received training and experience in administering neuropsychological batteries. Supervision included weekly individual and group Supervision. Support activities included report writing, chart notes, treatment plans, service records, interpretation of test results, and other client support activities maintained.

Conducted intake assessments, individual mental health, and vocational counseling services to college students with varying presenting concerns or mental illness. Attention specifically to performing counseling with diverse populations. Additionally, served as crisis on-call backup for staff members working at peer support hotline once a week and weekend shifts three times a semester. Participated in staff trainings on topics including suicide assessment, multicultural issues, sexual assault response/prevention, and legal/ethical issues. Facilitated the Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP) and the Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) – brief group and individual alcohol interventions.

Primary responsibility was to provide group counseling and crisis intervention to emotionally disturbed and learning disabled adolescents within in a self-contained classroom. Worked on a multi-disciplinary team of interns from school psychology, counseling psychology, social work, and special education. Weekly individual and group supervision addressed any classroom issues; clinical issues were addressed in separate supervision. Regular collaboration needed with teacher, principal, social worker, school psychologist, etc. to ensure consistent messages given to the students within in the classroom. Chart notes, minimal testing/assessment experiences (Self-Directed Search, other vocational related inventories), and other client support activities were additional components of the training experience.
