In this role, I relieve the OHS manager in his absence to ensure all employees comply with all relevant legal safety requirementsPlays the role of emergency coordinator Identify safety training needs, organize and co-ordinate and prepare training material where appropriate• Liaise with on-site contractors to ensure their compliance with company HSE regulations and adherence to safety standards and acts as liaison with Factory inspectorate, EPA, among others• I also identify and review HSE concerns specific to the work site and ensure activities do not put workers and by standers at risk

In this role, I was in charge of the wood factory and harvesting department department health and safety to ensure the working environment is safe and does not pose any risk to workers/. Contractors/ client/ visitor’s health and safety •Conducted regular on-site safety inspection/s, identify unsafe conditions and acts and follow up actions• Investigated all incidents and near misses. Identify causes that contravene safety and advise on any improvement in safety measures and standards that need to be made and ensure the workplace is complaint with HSE statutory requirements• Conducted regular safety audits, trainings, briefings, inductions and Toolbox talks weekly and address the DO’s and Don’ts• Initiated safety incentive award scheme to encourage safety input and adherence to safety protocols.
