Gifford West is an internationally recognized expert in financial service liquidity risk, risk management, risk disposal strategies, and the technology supporting these activities. Over a 30-year career, he has held senior positions in the global financial service and management consultancy industry in the US and Europe. At Alpine Tremont, Gifford advises European banks, regulators, and the European Commission on funding/disposal strategies for NPLs as well as the supporting technologies. Prior to Alpine Tremont, Gifford lead International business development at DebtX, leading the effort to introduce the then startup into European banks, regulators, and the buy-side. DebtX has since become the market-leading platform for the valuation and disposal of illiquid bank assets with Gifford's clients including European central banks, leading banks/private equity firms, and government agencies. Previous to DebtX, he held senior roles in the management consulting industry providing strategic advice to international financial service firms.Gifford serves on the European Commission DGFISMA (Directorate-General for Financial Stability,Financial Services and Capital Markets Union) . He is a member of the 20 person NPL Advisory Panel. He is a frequent speaker at European NPL conferences and a guest lecturer at the Joint Vienna Institute. A graduate of Harvard in Middle Eastern studies, Gifford holds an MBA from Tuck School of Business.
