As President of the Masschusetts Chapter and a 20 year board member, I help to coordinate all statewide efforts in discovering employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Staff support to statewide initiative to enhance employment outcomes for people with disabilities; duties include technical assistance to community rehabilitation providers on service delivery restructuring to enhance overall agency outcomes, consultation to assist individuals to reach employment goals, and analysis of findings to help in the development of statewide strategic plan. Was assigned as the Senior Technical Specialist for two major projects: Work Without Limits in Massachusetts and the Ct/DDS project, GSE to IE.

Senior staff member of 14 Million dollar agency providing employment services in three states (Ma, Ct, & N.Y. ) with a primary responsibility of all operations in our Eastern Division. This entailed all aspects of programmatic and financial responsibilities in this service area. Started with one contract and grew to multiple contracts with the three major funders of disability services, (DMR, MRC, and DMH) plus DTA. On behalf of CE, I partnered and developed relationships with many of the service providers in the Northeast Region of Massachusetts and understood the challenges that are unique to this service area. Additional responsibilities included working with senior staff on the management of all operations throughout the three states Community Enterprises serves.

Developed and coordinated a placement program for clients with a diagnosis of mental illness through a clubhouse model. This entailed designing a market strategy to the business sector that would educate and advocate for the employment of persons with psychiatric disabilities. Work with staff to help develop their skills to better serve the vocational needs of club members and referred mental health center individuals. MRC recognized my program as one of the most functional programs in their service area! During my time at this position I partnered with the Montachusett Area businesses and CRP’s to form one of the first Governor Committee’s to address the concerns and needs of employment for Individuals with disabilities. I was the chairman for several years and had many successes in discovering businesses that would hire our referred individuals.

I developed all networking systems in the business sector to educate employers to the advantages of employing developmentally disabled consumers. Analyze market and labor trends to best direct consumers in proper career paths. Established a job bank to help match referred consumers to our work programs. I was also very active in the community and became the first human services professional to become the President of the Fitchburg Rotary Club. MRC nominated my placement program for a national award for it’s conversion efforts and success in placing individuals with mental retardation.
