Hector Foundation is a non-profit based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, that aims at connecting Haitian students with educational opportunities domestically and abroad. Our main project is an annual summer program where we offer 40 high school students an opportunity to learn about the college application process, critically reflect on global issues and engage in intellectually stimulating discussions. I help with communication, assist with the animation and facilitation of events and promote the establishment of new partnerships and new initiatives. As an intern at Arts Ed Newark, I attended weekly community meetings which gave me a better understanding of trauma-informed care as a practice, particularly in the area of arts education. I then used my understanding of the organization's work, structure and culture to produce a social media audit in which I included suggestions to help grow the organization's user base on various social media platforms, suggestions which were subsequently implemented in the expansion strategy of the organization.
