I worked on the Crow Indian Reservation in south central Montana as a forester working at timber sale administration, forest development, and wildland fire suppression work from Sept. 1978 until Feb. 1981. I then transferred to the Nett Lake Indian Reservation in very northern Minnesota as the reservation forester doing forest development and timber sales work from Feb. 1981 until March 1983. Then in March of 1983 in assumed the position of Agency Forester at the Southern California Agency where most of my work was with wildland fire suppression, controlled burning, and wildand fire prevention. In March of 1990 I was selected as the Agency Land Operations Officer which coordinated the water resources, minerals and mining, range management, environmental, irrigation, and agricultural programs. This position was changed to be the Agency Natural Resource Officer position which I was selected to fill. In March 1998 I filled the Agency Environmental Protection Specialist position where I was responsible coordinating the Agencies compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Supported the Grafton County Extension Forester in all education and service related activities within the Baker River Watershed (White Mountains of NH). Working with private landowners with the watershed the primary activities were timber stand improvement, skid and logging road erosion control, formulating and implementing forest management plans, site preparation for tree planting and tree planting and wildlife habitat assistance. Other assistance was given to landowners with timber harvest marking, timber marketing assistance, maple sugar production, and Christmas tree culture and harvesting. Unfortunately I was only in this position a little over a year when the funding for watershed foresters in New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire ceased. Show less

Completed Engineman class A school at Great Lakes, Ill. and was assigned to a large harbor tug for a year and a half (YTB 777) and became chief engineer before being sent to Assault Boat Engineering School in San Diego for two months. I was then assigned to go the Small Craft Repair Facility in Da Nang, Vietnam. To work with diesel engine repairs on river patrol boats. I was there for eleven months.
