Managing Director of the Keshet Eilon Music Center, Gilad Sheba was born and raised in Kibbutz Eilon and studied violin from a young age. Following his army service, he pursued music studies with a specialty in choral conducting. He taught music at the Manor-Cabri Western Galilee Regional High School for the Arts, establishing a choir and instrumental ensembles there, while also leading a choir he established in his kibbutz. In 1990, while still teaching, he invited a group of 12 young violinists newly arrived in Israel from the former Soviet Union to attend a special summer masterclass program he organized at Kibbutz Eilon as part of the national effort to integrate new immigrants into the country. Word of the success of the program spread, and the following summer, other young violinists from Israel and abroad joined, and the Keshet Eilon Violin Mastercourse was born. Soon, Sheba was devoting full time to organizing and managing the varied activities at the Keshet Eilon Music Center, which is the realization of his vision. His goal today is to expand this distinctive center in the Western Galilee so that it operates maximally year round. In 2007 Gilad Sheba was awarded the Rosenblum Prize for his activity on behalf of Keshet Eilon. The prize, granted annually by the City of Tel Aviv for an outstanding contribution to the arts, reflects the recognition of Keshet Eilon as a valuable institution in the musical landscape in Israel and in the field of violin education that reaches out to the whole world.
