I assisted the lead researcher in conducting research into possible deployment methods of a new emergency department standard meant to result in cost savings. Cost savings would be achieved by increasing usage of re-usable pulse-ox devices. The small test of change methodology was utilized in assessing success of educational approach and frequency of reaping savings from the new standard while maintaining quality care. I helped devise a new workflow that minimized the amount of change necessary to increase the participation rate of the staff and decrease the number of broken devices. I also developed an easily accessible educational video and survey tool for the emergency department staff.
