SPS/QMS Food Safety OfficerAgribusiness Initiative Trust-Uganda Support to Technical and other projects involving Food Production, safety and quality management at Abi Trust. Under this project over 80 partners in production, processing and value addition along value chains of Dairy, Coffee, Maize, Pulses, Horticulture and Oilseeds are being supported to comply to local and international quality and safety standards in order to meet market requirements.

1. Conducting research on various stakeholders in the agriculture and food industry sector to generate information used in standards development2. Inspection of food and food processing premises to assess their compliance to Uganda, East African, and International Standards3. Inspection of warehouses, stores, for conformity of consignments and storage premises prior to release to the local market4. Conducting training for Importers, local manufacturers and agro processors within Uganda on the relevant standards5. Participate in the process of food and agricultural standards development and dissemination to the relevant stakeholders6. Participate in preparation of monthly and quarterly work plans as well as reports for assignments7. Conducting Internal training for staff on Conformity Assessment Standards

Variuos consultancy within the Food Processing and Industrial development sector specifically focusing on standards compliance training, inspection, and development of management systems documentation for over 50 companies seeking certification for products and services in Uganda and the EAC Region.Experience mainly in ISO 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS, SR ISO 26000

1. Participate in agricultural community liaison activities to assess the agro-processing capacities in various regions of Uganda and advise on which industries to be supported by the project2. Assess performance of project beneficiaries through continuous monitoring and evaluation of selected beneficiaries3. In liaison with UNBS, participate in dissemination of food standards and support their implementation within the private sector4. Participate in preparing work plans and budgets for food safety related activities and progress reports on monthly basis.5. Conduct training and provide technical support to enterprises in HACCP, GHP/GMP, ISO 22000:2005, ISO 9000 and the relevant codes of practice6. Prepare and update reference information including training materials, manuals, HACCP, GHP/GMP and ISO 22000 implementation guides 7. Liaise with other development partners to participate and support agro-processing, capacity development and trade facilitation initiatives8. Support pilot enterprises to acquire and maintain appropriate agro processing equipment9. Conduct Impact Assessment of activities and prepare regular impact assessment updates for supervisors
