About Gilbert Yang Ye

Hello! I'm Yang (Gilbert) Ye. I received my Ph.D. at the University of Florida. Under the guidance of Dr. Eric Jing Du, I'm diving into the fascinating world of human-robot interaction and mixed-reality solutions for construction challenges. With a deep interest in engineering, my journey began with a BSc degree in Building Engineering and Management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. During internships in Singapore and Beijing, I got a firsthand look at how complex construction can be. This sparked my interest in programming and computing technologies for automation. So, I pursued an MSc in Applied Computational Science and Engineering from Imperial College London, which solidified my skills in mathematics, programming, simulation, and machine learning. Now, I'm deeply involved in the Informatics, Cobots, and Intelligent Construction Lab at the University of Florida. My Ph.D. research focuses on making processes more automated and workforce training more accessible and inclusive using reinforcement learning, robotics, mixed reality, haptic feedback, and human augmentation. While I'm excited about technological progress, I also emphasize keeping people at the heart of innovation. Beyond algorithms and hardware, I'm intrigued by the human side of technology adoption – how we think, trust, and respond. I'm dedicated to creating a balanced relationship between humans and technology, where innovation improves our lives.Research interest: Mixed Reality, Human-Robot Interaction, Haptic Feedback, Human Factor Analysis, Machine Learning and Reinforcement LearningKey competencies: innovation, critical thinking, motivation, quick learner, communication skills, and leadershipSee my personal website at https://gilbert-yangye.github.io/
