Director, It Architecture
I am leading the establishment of a new function within NI's IT Department to build capabilities around Solution, Data and Technical / Application architecture. As a group we will be working with stakeholders in and outside of the IT Department to define our overall IT Landscape based on business capabilities needed to enable NI's strategic objectives. The team is made up of senior members of our department across our development sites.
It Section Manager - Ebusiness Applications
Currently I oversee a number of development teams that together will deliver on National Instruments' Digital Transformation. The development teams are distributed across our development sites in Austin, Texas, Debrecen, Hungary and Penang, Malaysia. The teams are using such products as IBM's WebSphere Commerce, Abode's Experience Manager, Target and Analytics, and Attivo's Enterprise Search platform to build the new ni.com and establish a digital sales channel for NI.
Senior It Manager, Ecommerce
In my current role I lead a team of developers in the eCommerce space. My team is distributed between Austin and Penang, Malaysia. The team is responsible for the support and new feature/application development that allow NI's customers to find, configure, quote, and buy products online. Most of the team's development is using J2EE technologies. The team is in the process of moving from homegrown custom applications to more off the shelf enterprise level application suites. Primarily we are moving towards a stack of IBM and Adobe based products to deliver the new ni.com customer Shop & Buy experience. We are using tools such as IBM WebSphere Commerce, IBM Sterling Configurator Add-On, IBM Operational Decision Management, Adobe Experience Management, Adobe Analytics and Adobe Target to name a few.Along with my team management duties, I bring my 16+ years of NI experience to help drive business and technical decisions. I partner closely with my business owners, business analysts and other IT leaders to solution and meet the business' needs. I also work very closely with and help manage our relationships with our vendor partners and system integrators. With half of my team in Malaysia I can bring my experiences managing remote site resources to bear here as well. I have developed a local manager in the Malaysia site, and been able to focus both halves of my team to meet the demands of the business to both run the existing site, and work on the new systems for the next generation of ni.com
It Applications Manager
After the completion of the Oracle 11i Upgrade program I continued supporting the IT needs of NI's manufacturing and distribution operations in Austin, and Hungary as the Manufacturing Materials IT Manager. My team of developers, both in Austin and Hungary, were responsible for inventory control for raw and finished good and all distribution systems integrating with freight carriers like UPS, and FedEX. I continued to grow the development team I had started in Hungary and many of those team members went on to feed new development team for other business groups. As an IT manager I also supported our Sales organization focusing on custom field sales applications while also maintaining our Oracle sales tools. I also served as the Sales & Marketing IT project manager for our Oracle Applications r12 Upgrade Program, overseeing all of the solutions for our upgrades out of Americas and European/Japan systems to the latest version of the Oracle eBusiness Suite.
Programmer Analyst
As a Programmer Analyst I played a number of roles from being a business application developer, project manager, and technical architect. While in this role I work on eCommerce applications for ni.com, most notably was working on the site’s home grown cart and checkout system extending it to accept credit cards as payment in Europe and Japan. From there I move over to our Marketing group supporting Oracle Applications 10.7, and specifically the Oracle Sales and Marketing module. I became an expert on customer data within the Oracle Applications, and Lead processing and routing. I also become proficient with many of the Oracle tools such as Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, and the PL/SQL language. To round out my time in this role I then moved on to our Oracle Applications 11i Upgrade program. Here I focused on Lead Processing for our Japan system upgrade, Customer Data, Oracle’s Trading Community Architecture) for our American’s upgrade and Manufacturing / Shipping for our European upgrade. In Manufacturing I was responsible for the IT project management of that business area, and at the same time began our development team in Debrecen, Hungary.
Lecturer
I had the honor of being able to teach a class at my alma mater, Texas A&M University. I held the position of Lecturer teaching one section of a senior level course that met for 3 hours once a week. I would travel from Austin, to College Station once a week to teach and hold office hours. The course I taught was Web Application Development. This was a class that focuses on HTML, CSS, and ASP.Net. The class project was to create a functioning eCommerce site with a database back end for product and customer data and all of the application and front end development work to bring the site to life.
Financial Controller
While at La Monita I performed the role of Controller and also offered IT based solutions to manage cash accounts and payables. As the controller I was responsible for all of La Monita’s bank accounts. I managed all of the company’s account payables, receivables and payroll. At first most of these systems were paper based, and I was able to secure funds to purchase hardware and software to begin the process of digitizing much of this information and business process. This was done with off the shelf consumer packages like Quicken.
