Working with a foreign Mission as the Security Manager came with its challenges just like any other job in life. The great take away from it was the level of experience gained by working in such a demanding role and also extending my network not only in-country, but externally as well. I learned a lot and have made a new lineage.My two years of employment at Black Swan International (BSI) as the Intelligence Manager was filled with challenges, opportunities and excitement. My role was to assist the operations team and clients with timely security atmospherics and assessments to assist in planning operations. This was my first ever job after leaving the military to join the corporate world which was definitely a pivotal phase in my life after serving God, Queen and Country for over eighteen years. I enjoyed my employment with BSI and learnt from the best management and team in the Security Industry, here in unpredictable or as they say; The Land of the Unexpected, PNG.The training, mentoring and experience that I gained to equip my skill set has prepared me for the stimulating challenges of the corporate world in this era. For me, the years of operating in mining locations where everyday is met with different situations and the training with our diplomatic partners in the region to deliver a safe APEC meet in Port Moresby were the highlights of my Military Career. Having said that, it is tough out here but the best thing to do is to take one day at a time. Patience and humility has been my key strength and this strength is given by God who I believe is the source of everything and everyone. I am a self-starter and I work hard but I prefer to be smarter at what I do to achieve the intent of my organization. I will miss the military but all good things must come to an end. Nevertheless, when one door closes, another opens. The opportunities are out there. We just need to be patient and above all, trust in God.
