In this role I was responsible for leading a team of 3 to deliver the HR function for approx. 160 staff across three distinct service areas.Partner with service managers to integrate HR best practices - • Improved recruitment and retention processes during a time of significant staff growth and turnover.• Designed and implemented HR processes including Performance Management.• Streamlined core operating systems (TMS / Micro Pay) across multiple sites involving 24/7 rosters and staff with multiple roles.Promoted staff development and engagement - • Staff Support - designed and implemented a number of first-time health and wellbeing initiatives• Staff Development – cultivated a Learning & Development environment, identified skills gaps, supported specific training needs, promoted an integrated approach to L&D in operations.• Relationship Building – engaged and supported line managers in a new way with a view to building their skills and the organisation’s capabilities.• Leadership role in a number of initiatives in areas such as employee engagement, employee support and development; employment law and employee relations.

Responsibilities • Reported directly to the CEO and held full functional and leadership responsibility for HR strategy development and implementation. I partnered with both senior and line management teams to provide support in relation to all matters HR including, Recruitment & Retention, Employee Relations, Learning & Development and Health & Safety.• I was responsible for the effective management of all in-store HR issues in line with professional best practice and employment law, which included disciplinary and grievance issues and conflict resolution.• My role evolved to include responsibility for environmental compliance; management of corporate issues including product recalls and serious customer issues.Key Achievements • Established and led the HR function to support expansion during a time of significant growth and dynamic change where the business more than doubled in size. • Transformed and raised the profile of the HR function. I expanded the support offered to staff in stores across the retail chain and was recognised as a pragmatic, balanced and influential voice for both management and staff. • Integrated a newly acquired competitor into the existing business, which involved complex Employee Relations, Change Management and Legal Issues.• Led a cost reduction and restructuring programme. Managed reduction in wage costs through reduced labour, reduced working hours and redundancy during the recession of 2009.• Led recruitment and selection processes during business expansion. Managed all company recruitment projects, including 300 staff for 30+ new stores. Managed closure of 2 stores.• Introduced a suite of first time policies, practices and processes to support the evolving demands of an expanding business. • Provided HR support during penetration into the Northern Ireland market including analysis of and plan for local employment law.*Break in service 2005 - 2006.
