I am a Scientific Designer and Illustrator with a background in Biology and a PhD in Neurosciences. My primary objective is to bridge the domains of Science, Design, and Arts. With an extensive understanding of scientific concepts and terminology, I have the ability to communicate about Science with precision. My work involves exploring a diverse array of visualization tools, ranging from Illustration and Graphic Design to Motion Design and Data Visualization. My ultimate goal is to enhance the dissemination of scientific knowledge, catering to both the general public and the scientific community itself. I am deeply committed to devising innovative methods for conveying scientific narratives effectively.Currently located in Brussels, I collaborate with scientists and scientific institutions worldwide to enhance their scientific communication. This involves refining visual representations such as figures and covers, as well as creating materials like brochures, reports, exhibitions, videos, brands, and identities.SUPPORTING RESEARCHERS THROUGH DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATIONI have produced numerous cover illustrations for scientific journals and conceptualized graphical abstracts, diagrams, and figures for published scientific papers. While cover illustrations often involve a creative process with visual analogies, scientific diagrams and figures are meticulously developed in close collaboration with researchers. The focus lies on achieving accuracy, clarity, and the effective conveyance of scientific messages.DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATION ASSISTANCE FOR SCIENTIFIC INSTITUTIONSI have designed promotional materials for scientific events and programs, creating reports, logos, and websites for various institutions and scientific consortia. Sharing a common scientific background and interest with my clients proves highly advantageous in this graphic design exercise.SCIENTIFIC ILLUSTRATION FOR EXHIBITIONSI conducted research and produced over 20 infographic panels for the exhibition "Brain - Wider Than the Sky," held at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. These panels covered diverse topics such as the brain's evolution, neurons and synapses, cognitive processes, and the development of artificial minds. Over a three-month exhibition period, these visuals were viewed by approximately 90,000 visitors.
