An accomplished and extraordinarily varied artist, dancer and actress Gilda Mullette has performed on some of the world’s most famous stages and worked with many of the most celebrated names in show business. Having studied dance at Juilliard and the New York City Ballet, Mullette received a scholarship as a young teenager to train with the American Ballet Theater. This experience launched her career in professional dance, which encompassed further training with companies such as London’s Royal Ballet and performances at venues from the Paris Opera to the White House. Over the years, Gilda Mullette has worked with virtually all the legends of classical and contemporary dance, including George Balanchine, Rudolf Nureyev, Alvin Ailey, and Martha Graham.Gilda Mullette made the transition to acting through performances in the Lincoln Center revivals of the musicals “Carousel” and “Oklahoma,” for which she was sought out by Richard Rodgers and Agnes de Mille. She completed further training under the great American method acting teachers Lee Strasberg, Sandy Meisner, and Stella Adler, and worked with actors including Marlon Brando and Harvey Keitel. Mullette’s abilities in combining dance and theater skills led to numerous productions on and off-Broadway, work with comedians such as John Belushi and Gilda Radner, and a series of solo night club acts which she performed worldwide both in traditional venues and on cruise ships.Dedicated to passing on her love of the performing arts to others, Gilda Mullette also spent many years as a teacher in high schools, colleges, and private studios. Her subjects range from ballet, jazz, and choreography to anatomy, injury prevention, and body dynamics. She has served as Dean of Dance at the Florida School for Dance Education, and holds state teaching certifications from New York, Florida, and California. She is also a fully trained Ashtanga yoga teacher, a discipline she practices daily.
