Climate Change Analyst

Current

London, England, United Kingdom

Data analyst helping Aegon UK transitioning its Default portfolio to net zero by:- building a data architecture democratising RI fund data via custom dashboards (Power BI), thus informing our fund reviews and evaluation of our progress against our net zero commitments. This data environment connects fund data (MSCI Barra), ESG data (MSCI ESG Manager) and many other useful sources (such as ENCORE, SBTi, CA100, As you sow, Know The Chain, to name a few);- establishing the fund climate solution framework, prioritising impact, intentionality and additionality. Applicable to listed and private markets, this framework is used to evaluate the progress against Aegon UK's climate solution commitments, and was first implemented in the revamping of our main default fund;- maintaining at the edge of RI data innovation by implementing the NZAOA's carbon footprint attribution methodology in our portfolio analysis, developing sector and regional CVaR for the Aegon Master Trust TCFD report, interacting with data providers in establishing and evaluating net zero alignment metrics (in line with IIGCC guidelines);- identifying relevant external data sources evaluating corporates on key RI engagement topics, to establish a list of 100 companies we prioritised in our expression of wish voting guidelines;- exploring data to inform the social factor and biodiversity assessments of our portfolio.

Business Manager

London, Royaume-Uni

As a business manager, I acquired an understanding of a trading floor intricacies, gaining insights into activities such as derivatives sales, cash equity, volatility trading or research and advisory. This role was central to the business and to managers, providing them with visibility and steering capacity. All functions, from front office to support, relied on the business manager to act as a pivot to relay information. Also, I got a first experience as a manager, overlooking 3 staff members. This captivating role can be illustrated by three achievements:• For 5 years, I monitored the 25mEUR market data budget for my division in Europe, maintaining the spending constant against an annual 5% inflation. I was responsible for identifying and running cost cutting initiatives, cost-awareness campaigns, reportings of savings to top managers, new spending approvals, and understanding and challenging front office requirements.• The role of business manager would involve the management several projects. One of my favourite was the implementation of the MIFID2 regulation on the Sales Advisory activity. With the decoupling of research payments from execution, this activity had to find its own revenues. Setting the framework for a whole new activity was exciting. It involved coordinating with the business, accounting, compliance, Research department (and other business managers) as well as back office.• Lastly, as a business manager overlooking the EQD UK platform, I was in charge of providing regular feedback to senior management on PnL, operational/IT projects and issues, regulatory and compliance matters and risks metrics. In short, coordinate and obtain information and establish steering dashboards for senior managers and potential auditors and regulators. This role was formative and I am grateful of the opportunity I had. But I felt I needed to reorient my career in a more aspirational direction, joining the MSc Sustainable Development at Sussex University.

Jul 2014 - Aug 2020

Client Support Associate

London, Royaume-Uni

I enrolled and passed the CFA level 1, which helped me join Socgen’s equity derivatives valuation team. I would later pass the other level 2 and 3 as I worked in the forthcoming years. This position offered me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of volatility and correlation products, understanding their pricing and developing ad-hoc visualisation tools. The team was also involved in the synthetic prime brokerage business, in which I got involved gradually as the OTC valuation function was transferred to Paris. As a synthetic prime brokerage client support associate, I ensured that my clients' experience when trading with SG was in line with the salesperson's promises and their expectations on all operational aspects. The team would serve as a prime point of contact for CFD and OTC products after-sale service, and our accurate output was required by our time-sensitive clients (hedge funds, asset managers) in computing their funds’ daily NAV. I would at times assist salespeople in regular client meetings to understand their operational expectations and detail what the bank’s solutions could be.When the CFD support team was transferred to Paris, I was offered the opportunity to join as a business manager.

Sep 2009 - Jun 2014

Junior Equity Derivatives Analyst (Traineeship)

Paris, Île-De-France, France

I was offered the opportunity to complete my end of MSc project (on the predictive power of implied volatility) within the same team as my gap year. There, I fine-tuned my programming skills by revamping the automation of reports in VBA and SQL and got to produce a couple of strategy notes and contribute to senior strategists analysis. Every single day of this second semester 2008 was eventful and I felt grateful to experience it from the floor.

Apr 2008 - Dec 2008

Junior Convertible Bond Analyst (Traineeship)

Paris, Île-De-France, France

My first step on a trading floor – 7 months where I learned that I didn’t know much. But those were enough to know that I wanted to get a seat on the floor. The team made a great impression and I knew I wanted to come back after my last year at uni.
