Day to day management of a boarding house of up to 80 boys in their final year of school and supporting them to achieve their individual post-school targets.Leadership of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme at the school.Project lead for the restructuring of the boarding house to create a co-educational boarding environment for pupils in their final year at school.Achievements:• Each year I delivered groups fully prepared for A Level and GCSE. A Level groups – often in excess of 30 – were managed through a coursework module requiring significant individual research and production of a piece of work which met strict performance criteria. Each year between 50 - 80% of A Level students exceeded their target grades, helping many to secure places at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.• Designed and implemented schemes of work in a format that ensured material was fully understood by all, allowing them to meet their potential, whilst ensuring the syllabus was fully covered.• Changed the Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme at the school resulting in an increase in completion rated from <25% to as much as 60%, exceeding the national target.• Delivered the initial stages of a project to redesign Year 13 boarding at the school to create a sector leading environment for boys and girls in their last year of compulsory education.• Performance and outcomes were validated during ISI academic and pastoral inspections resulting in an ‘Outstanding’ grading. Tri-annual DofE licence reviews independently validated the delivery of the Award at the school.

History teacher across the full spectrum of the secondary age group.Duke of Edinburgh's Award Manager and Chair of the Wokingham District Award Panel.Achievements:• Completed teacher training through the Graduate Teacher Programme resulting in Qualified Teacher Status.• Restructuring the delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award resulting in an increase in completion rated from <30% to as much as 60% at Bronze Award level and improving take up at Silver and Gold Award.

Various staff and regimental appointments in infantry units culminating in command of an armoured infantry company - 150 personnel - on exercise and operations. Achievements:• During a 6 month period in Iraq in 2003/4 I provided security for a large area of Basra City while simultaneously training and mentoring the evolving Iraqi Police Service. I also delivered a number of infrastructure projects to improve conditions for the local population. All of these were carried out in a highly complex, challenging and increasingly hostile environment.• Designed and delivered realistic, operationally focused multi-million pound training events at the British Army's premier training organisations in Canada and the UK.• Delivered a project to identify the inputs, define outputs and measure the performance of Army activity in the East Midlands and East Anglia - an operating budget in the order of £90M. The resulting work meant that arbitrary requests for a 5% in year cut to the budget was quickly demonstrated to be unfeasible, saving time and money.• Implemented a project to drawdown and restructure a unit of 550 personnel to leave a sub-unit of 120 personnel. The process was implemented in such a way as to ensure the long-term sustainability of the new organisation while at the same time being sensitive to those whose service was no longer required. Simultaneously I delivered a high profile training exercise in the UK for the US National Guard.• Provided support to the civilian authorities in politically sensitive circumstances during periods of tension in both Northern Ireland and Kosovo.
