I led firefighters in everything from structural firefighting operations to the average fire alarm. I had an extremely unique and enjoyable experience bridging the gap between Potsdam Fire Department, the Potsdam community, being a Resident Advisor (RA) at Clarkson, and also being a student at Clarkson. Throughout each semester at Clarkson, I assisted New York State Fire and Clarkson EHS Department in conducting fire safety training and drills. These drills ranged from evacuation of a simulated smoke filled room, to fire extinguisher training with live fire. Aside from this, I fought one major structure fire on Clarkson's campus, responded to several smaller fires on campus, and also hundreds of fire alarms. It was truly an enjoyable experience. With this experience came a tremendous amount of personal growth. Skills such as verbal communications, being direct and to the point, professional and courteous, critical thinking in high stress situations, all here honed to perfection by the end of my time with Potsdam Fire.In 2018 was fortunate enough to be awarded the Chief's Award, for "service and dedication to the Potsdam community and the Potsdam Fire Department".
