March 2014: Appointed Chief Executive of St Catherine's Hospice (StCH). The Charity receives grant income (c26%) and fundraises (c£8m+) locally to provide palliative/end of life care AND bereavement support services across East Surrey & West Sussex. As part of supporting patients effectively, StCH is a key partner of the local NHS/social care system and we are currently supporting just over a third (over 2000 people p.a.) of all eligible deaths (as well as supporting the patient's families) across our area through our inpatient, outpatient, wellbeing activities, community care and bereavement support services. The charity was rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC at its last formal inspection and we retain a central focus on all matters of clinical and wider governance…alongside income growth. In 2023, the Charity moved to new and larger premises in Pease Pottage - made entirely possible by voluntary contributions from our local community. The charity currently employs 200 FTE and benefits from the support of over 700 volunteers who work alongside the income generation, support services and care services teams.
