I work independently, across educational phases and specialise in English language resources for UK and international markets. Major clients include Hodder Education, CUP, Macmillan and DK.

Representing this North American metrics company to help build brand awareness and product usage amongst publishers and teachers. The metric measures readability of texts and the readers on the same scale making for smarter links between the two.

Working with in-house colleagues to research and develop key aspects and products of the Oxford Owl site.

Author on Pip's Phonics; a Pre-Primary and Primary programme for taking a phonics approach to the teaching of English with bilingual (and in particular, Spanish speaking) pupils. Author tours and product development are on-going.

Previously worked as Consultant Publisher at Rising Stars developing the cross-phase literacy and curriculum publishing list with award-winning resources. Developing publishing strategy, market research, npd, author team building and working alongside the in-house team. Specialising in early years and high interest and low reading age publishing.

Consultant at EducationCity.com since 2005 primarily as an Early Years adviser. We devised the Letters and Sounds activity screens to chime with National Strategy requirements and more recently the Early Years Topic activities (ERA awards winner 2008; best Early Years Resource).

Identifying and working with a web design company my role was to develop this new flag ship site working closely with in-house colleagues and some of the UK's top literacy experts to ensure that content was both accessible and of the highest quality. Post launch the site is getting unprecedented hits from both teachers and parents. My role is on-going. This site won a 2012 BETT award for best Digital Collections and Resource Banks.

Research and development.

I worked with primary literacy team colleagues on developing interactive software activities for E-Fireflies (non-fiction books) and then went on to develop the concept for Magic Page (the interactive suite of CD-ROMs) to accompany Oxford Reading Tree. I then wrote the interactive activities for the final product and advised on other aspects of the programme. Magic Page was shortlisted for the ERA awards in 2009.

Research, commissioned and developed a new primary writing resource.

Seconded from CUP to this post to support and develop e-product for an ever-expanding e-market. The essence of the role was to ensure market appropriacy of new publishing through active involvement with the publishing teams. The role at CUP was defined as being the 'eyes and the ears' for the publisher so essentially it was a research and development role involving product development, project team management, author recruitment and sales team training. I also represented The Press in international markets such as Sri Lanka and Dubai.In parallel to this role I researched, developed and ultimately co-authored the top UK schools' handwriting scheme - Penpals for Handwriting in print and CD-ROM.

Straight from the primary classroom this was my first career step into the world of educational publishing. This company was part of the Thomson Corporation so had vibrant links with US markets.
