Creating editorial content and strategy for the Stratford-upon-Avon Herald - a highly regarded regional title that's been at the heart of the Stratford community since 1860. I act as deputy to the editor and work on the website, social media channels, weekly newspaper and monthly magazine.We hold those in authority to account and provide a platform for the voices of local people.I love the arts and champion that locally too - including promoting the work of local theatrical companies from Playbox to the RSC plus a wealth of non-professional organisations.

While on maternity leave from NME I started working as a freelance journalist creating must-read blogs and features for national newsstand brands. Titles I’ve worked for include: Marie Claire, the Guardian, Sunday Times Magazine, Woman and Home, NME and nme.com.I also wrote a series of books, aka the Best Mates Guides, published by Scholastic, aimed at pre-teen girls.From 2011 I worked as a freelance senior lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire – teaching and creating modules on journalism BA and MA.

Editing a range of supplements – including local guides and leisure magazines.Responsible for concept of publications, budgeting, writing, commissioning writers, photographers and designer. Also worked on busy daily (Mail) and weekly (Times) – writing stories, subbing and page lay out and updating website and social media platforms.

I was the creative lead on the New Look account. I created unique content aimed at employees via digital and print platforms, including blogs, social media updates and editing monthly in-house magazines. The challenge was to create entertaining content that was in keeping with the brand message, while addressing issues that caused concern, for example, with the ethical sourcing of resources.

As production editor at NME I was responsible for getting the busy weekly music newspaper out on time – even from the muddy trenches of Glastonbury. Duties included managing a team of five, overseeing transition of copy and pictures into final pages, rewriting copy, adding snappy headlines, blurbs, captions, pull-quotes and checking for literals and libels. I also wrote and oversaw the production of promotional material. Working with the senior editorial team, I helped create the annual NME Brats Awards Show and tour. On occasion I edited offshoots from the main magazine; including student guides and a series of fashion magazines. When NME went online with nme.com, the production team were also responsible for editing and uploading stories; and I took on the role of online digital reviews editor.
