Hello everyone. I'm Gillian. And I never thought I would be here.Let me clarify.I have worked in the film business for almost 30 years. It's a different kinda environment and we were shielded from the horrors of corporate North America for a very long time. But Alas and Alack, they caught up with us.I have had a 30 year career in the Film and Television business. Starting on the indie Canadian feature "Whale Music" in 1993, right out of film school, I made my name in the production office as a travel coordinator, Production coordinator and Stunt department coordinator. I left production in 2007 to work as the office manager for Canada's largest stunt group, Stunts Canada. For 11 years I managed over 60 stunt performers. I was responsible for every aspect of the group. This included scheduling, budgeting, event planning, special projects, and understanding the needs and personalities of every performer.It was an amazing experience to be part of Stunts Canada. I acted as their historian; completing both a documentary video project on Alex Green, the founder of Stunts Canada, and working on an oral history of the stunt business in Western Canada which saw me do over 40 interviews with stunt performers past and present. This project is ongoing and I intend on turning it into a book at some point in the future.My goal now is to find a place in film where I can be a part of something meaningful. I have much to offer in my experience and contacts. It is an exciting time to be in the film business in Vancouver, as there are many home grown production companies doing great work in not only production, but development, financing and distribution. I am an administrator, a facilitator and a coordinator. But above all, at this point in my life, I am a creator. I have great ideas, a great background, strong people skills and a wicked work ethic.And I need a new direction. Let's see what happens.Gillian Armstrong
