I have had almost 30 years as a secondary school teacher primarily of History but also Sociology, Government and Politics, and Citizenship. I have held the post of assistant head of sixth form at a Grammar school on the Wirral, and then Head of History where I raised achievement and results significantly. I have always worked closely with the sixth form team writing UCAS references and advising students on career paths and Oxbridge interviews. My approach to teaching and management is aspirational and challenging yet fostering a supportive team in order to share the common vision of raising attainment. I am friendly, approachable and quick to build relationships and a rapport with staff and students. I am keen to continue to work in the education sector, alternatively I would be happy to utilise my skills into other employment areas.
