My experiences in the public and private sector were in business and partnership development, strategy, culture change, quality improvement and relationship management. I have managed numerous projects with multi-disciplinary teams. My background was in food science and technology then a lecturing career, management and international businesses in further education with China & India. I've worked with numerous government agencies and initiatives, in various industry sectors and clusters. Associateship of Drucker Society Europe has given me access to the world’s top management thinkers at the annual Global Drucker Forum which addresses current and future leadership and management issues facing business, governments and academia. This has kept me up to date and interested in a host of developments impacting our lives.Since re-joining the private sector I developed an interest in social media and digital marketing which I used to help SMEs. At Dorset Business Angels I developed relationships with SMEs, start-ups and investors. A supporter and well-wisher of local businesses, my work with Hixsons on a book on the entrepreneurial renaissance culture in Bournemouth has made me a fan of the digital and creative scene. I am keen to continue raising awareness of the BCP area as a great place to live and do business.At Hixsons I am also a critical friend, advisor, writer and editor, researcher, sounding board and generalist. Perpetually frustrated by the lack of customer focus among businesses I am keen to support those looking to improve their offer to customers. I like to get things done, find solutions (the scientist is still in there), share information and spot patterns and opportunities to help people and make positive connections for them. Being helpful and making a difference is important to me. A few different careers and not what I thought I'd be doing when I started as a food scientist but some learning and personal development along the way. Still learning!
