▪ Spearhead the strategic development, writing, editing, and submission of various center grants (e.g., R13, T32)▪ Participate in the development, editing, and submission of faculty-led grants ▪ Mentor postdoctoral fellows and technical staff in their manuscript and grant writing skills, time management, and project planning▪ Oversee the development and submission of collaborative grants and manuscripts▪ Organize and host the center’s monthly lunch and learn and journal club series▪ Maintain the center websites and produce biannual newsletters

I contributed to the strategic development, writing, editing, budgeting, and submission of multi-institutional and multi-investigator grants. I also helped bring new outstanding research faculty to Houston Methodist Research Institute (HMRI) by assisting with the preparation and submission of multi-million-dollar recruitment grants. My day-to-day duties also included developing, writing, editing, and submitting nomination packages to promote the internal and external recognition and accomplishment of HMRI’s investigators. I organized monthly committee meetings to foster the development of program project grants, regularly attended scientific seminars, kept up to date with the scientific literature for better job performance, and aided with the writing and editing of scientific articles and reviews.

As a Beckman Institute Postdoctoral Fellow, I developed and led multiple collaborative experiments, including weekly team meetings, data analysis, interpretation, presentations at scientific meetings and publications. I mentored undergraduate senior honors thesis students. I developed macros in Image J and Excel in order to collect and to analyze data sets. I conducted literature reviews, synthesized information, and disseminated data into both scientific review articles and book chapters, and also wrote results and theory for multiple publications. Finally, I routinely communicated the importance of my research to the general public and to children through organized Brain Awareness and Open House events.

As a graduate student I conducted independent and collaborative research on the long-term influence of developmental alcohol exposure and the potential therapeutic role of exercise as an intervention. I also presented research to the public at international conferences and through publications. I was able to prioritize and manage multiple research projects while consistently meeting deadlines. In addition, I hired, trained, mentored, and supervised undergraduate research assistants and also purchased lab equipment and maintained accounting records for the lab.
