I developed this early online course for women in 1998 on the basics of using the internet. It ran for 2 years through the then newly established Women's International Electronic University (WIEU) at the University of West Virginia with participants from countries that included Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, United States, Canada and Switzerland. Despite the many time zone constraints, several of the modules were run in real time and several explored the use of text-based MOO educational technology as developed by Diversity University. WIEU's Director, Dr Mandonna Kolbenschlag was a feminist theologian, author of six books on the spiritual and psychological liberation of women, a working psychotherapist, and social philosopher. In 1996, she founded the Women's International Electronic University. With teachers in more than 90 countries, the university operated on the philosophy that women are effective social multipliers of economic and cultural development - "educate a woman and you educate the world."

Undertook statistical analysis of selected data from the CARNET study for Dr. B. Gottlieb and Dr. A. Martin Matthews at the University of Guelph. CARNET (the Canadian Aging research Network) was a national network of top university-based researchers who worked in partnership with industry to promote scientific excellence and technology transfer in the field of aging. Issues such as eldercare, managing the aging Canadian labour force, marketing and servicing needs of seniors and changes that occur in cognitive functions with age were researched. The Gerontology Research Centre at the University of Guelph, led by Dr. Anne Martin Matthews from the Department of Family Studies, was part of this national interdisciplinary project. Dr. Victor Marshall from the University of Toronto led the national team.
