The successful translation of scientific endeavour into commercial opportunities has been the focus of my entire career and remains a very rewarding goal. You might consider me as a knowledge broker in research and someone who can help deliver research impact. My experience has been gained through 20+ years as a research leader in the personal care Industry within Unilever and over 12 years working in Academia supporting Academics to work with companies. I appreciate, first hand, the key role Universities play in innovation with business through my job in building research partnerships at the University of Bradford. This includes grant writing, impact case study preparation and summarising research into review articles.It is my goal to use my industry experience to enhance the relationships between the University and the companies we are fortunate to work with. I have helped establish the Cosmetics Cluster UK Ltd - a 'network of networks' serving businesses large and small in this exciting sector with information, events and contacts.I continue to provide specialised private skin and hair science consultancy to large and small companies in the UK and internationally, helping them exploit the many opportunities to be gained by understanding skin and hair biology and also in evaluation and interpretation of clinical and in vitro data.I organise workshops and give lectures on hair and scalp biology for professionals in the personal care industry and have been associated with the European Hair Research Society for several years having been both Secretary and President in recent years.I also work with an incredibly dedicated group of Trichologists, dermatologists, hair surgeons, scientists and educational experts who launched the UKs first accredited education pathway to become a Clinical Trichologist in 2021.
