I provided technical support, project leadership and safety coaching to multiple contract companies tasked with construction and installation of upgraded instrumentation and electrical systems on producing ConocoPhillips oil and gas facilities. We installed and configured solar charging systems, ROC PLC, Vega switches and level sensors, cathodic protection systems, 480v facility lighting, H2S monitoring equipment, compressors, telemetry, and wireless communication equipment. With over 30,000 man hours in the field, my team completed over 700 complex equipment upgrades with zero injuries and always came within 5% of target spending.

Performed functional check out of all CH2M Hill instrumentation and electrical systems new construction projects. Ensured installation was completed to Engineering specifications and that all applicable codes and regulations were satisfied.Evaluated instrumentation due for upgrade and presented recommendations for design to engineering. Avionics AND HVAC...only in the United States Navy do you get the opportunity to fill such different and challenging roles at the same time. I managed, mentored and directed a constantly changing pool of skilled professionals in both aviation and surface maintenance, ensuring they were properly trained and equipped to keep jets in the air safely and our ship on the water dryly. I ran the Communications/Navigation work center, which is one of the few that hasn't converted to automatic test equipment. We utilized everything from the old Simpson voltmeter to brand new Agilent wave generators to troubleshoot a broad range of avionics to component level. We did this all in strict accordance with Naval Aviation Maintenance procedures, and I am proud to say that our latest Quality Assurance Audit yielded a perfect score.My other job, the HVAC part, was running the department's surface maintenance efforts, or Material Maintenance Management(3M) program. I was faced with an immediate and daunting challenge; the culture in the department viewed the program with no small amount of disdain, making procedural compliance and training a difficult task. To overcome this, I designed a twice-weekly class aimed at the most junior sailors. I taught them the program and procedures with hands on training and practical application, and I saw immediate and gratifying results. Our quality assurance scores increased, and when the big Navy 3M Inspection came, my department shone. We passed every maintenance practical examination and administrative inspection with perfect scores.

I was again afforded an excellent opportunity to receive some first rate technical training as a full time student. While here, I expanded an in-depth knowledge of electronics, computers, automated test equipment, analog/digital communication, fiber optics, radar, inertial navigation, global positioning, fixed and rotary wing automatic flight control, aircraft display, electronic warfare, anti-submarine warfare, power generation/distribution, and aircraft weapons systems. I completed the 8- hour=a-day 29 week long course with a cumulative GPA of 94.2%.Being a student left me with a few extra minutes every week, so I volunteered to be the den leader for my son's Boy Scout Troop. Teaching 14 boys survival skills, teamwork, knots and nutrition was one of the most challenging and rewarding leadership experiences I've taken part in.

I loved this job. I managed, edited and taught the 16 week long OJ-510 Digital Test Bench curriculum as my primary duty, pushing 24 technicians through to the fleet with an average GPA of 96%. I have a natural talent for making what could be considered dry material relatable and interesting. As avionics systems changed, I ensured my curriculum accurately reflected those changes, often traveling to the repair facility to learn first hand the new equipment. As a collateral duty, I volunteered to be the Command Information Assurance Manager, making me responsible to the Commanding Officer for all network activity and hardware on both classified and unclassified networks. I worked extensively with civilian contractors at multiple agencies to keep up with this responsibility, ensuring everything from software updates to network security groups were maintained in a timely, and most importantly, accurate manner.

While deployed, led 15 technicians with minimal supervision in time-critical repair of more than 200 squadron assets encompassing over 6600 man hours, directly contributing the supported squadrons 100% sortie completion rate.Volunteered with Partners in Education as a math tutor and with the Oak Harbor High Football team.Responsible for ensuring timely execution of Preventative Maintenance on all avionics repair equipment ranging from torque wrenches to multi-million dollar automated test benches.Performed final Quality Assurance inspection of work to ensure compliance with applicable technical directives, proper operation and safety of flight status.
