    Physicist with the Accelerator Physics Group of the Advanced Photon Source. Primary work centered on the LEUTL Free Electron Laser project. LEUTL set a number of world records including first FEL to saturate in the visible and the UV. LEUTL opened the path to future x-ray lasers that will aid thousands of research scientists.Work included all aspects of the project including design and operation of the high power drive laser, developing and improving beam production, diagnostics, and beamline optics, and optical diagnostic design and operation. Beam tuning, data gathering and analysis as well as writing publication on the results was performed. Extensive interaction with and supervision of other scientists, engineers, technicians and support staff. Worked directly with engineers on control system and automation, optics specifications, as well as beam and optical diagnostics. Other research areas of interest included FEL modeling, high brightness beam generation and power beaming.

Also engaged in the design, construction and testing of a high voltage extractor for cathode testing, material studies and beam dynamics experiments.
