    I worked on various projects for industrial clients in the chemical manufacturing and petroleum refining industry. The majority of my work has been in the design of overpressure protection systems, entailing progressively greater difficulty and responsibility. At first, I was a self-directed team member. More recently, I have become a technical team leader for small teams of around 5 process engineers. Further projects have included design of crude charge and blend systems, crude petroleum pipeline, scale up of DMSO production, etc. These projects required the following calculations: heat and material balances, hydraulic calculations for all phases, pump sizing and design, etc. Designs and calculations were performed according the applicable industry standards and codes. Examples include API Recommended Practices, API Standards, ASME codes, Client standards, etc.

    I designed top-side facilities for petroleum and natural gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Mississippi River Delta. These projects included a rain water sump for a delta platform, fire-water system for a petroleum platform, helicopter landing skid, start up and operation procedures for water injection into a petroleum reservoir, metering skids, relief header and flare system, etc. Most projects included the development of P&ID's, PFD's, material balances, hydraulic calculations, relief valve sizing, equipment data sheets, instrumentation design and data sheets, API Recommended Practice 14C analysis, line lists, valve and piping specification, requests for proposals, and bid packages. As the most junior engineer, I was charged with the preliminary development of all documentation, which was later reviewed and modified accordingly to meet all applicable industry codes and standards.
