I was awarded the Faculty of Engineering Vacation Research Internship Program Scholarship to begin my honours research early by working on a real research project alongside Dr. Kenneth Chung. The research project I worked on is the "Development of a Social Network-Identity Model for Stakeholder Engagement in Infrastructure Projects using Netnography" which aims to determine how infrastructure megaprojects can effectively engage with their affected stakeholders through social network analysis.

As a building cadet, I worked on the Modular Schools construction projects which involved the expansion of the Galungara and Jordan Springs Public Schools. This role has taught me about the various construction disciplines, from civil to landscaping and fit-out works. My role involved a mixture of contracts administration work, including stakeholder communications and assisting with the compilation of tender comparisons for stakeholder works, compilations of monthly reports for the client, and preparations of contracts for subcontractors. Additionally, site management work was done which involved comparing the state of the building to the for construction architectural drawings.

As a project management intern at the Children's Cancer Institute, I have learnt the principles of Agile Scrum and witnessed how this is applied in a real not-for-profit organisation. Although the general methodology may not be applicable to all projects, I believe the fundamental values of Scrum such as the empowerment of the individual, frequent communication with the client/customer, and ability to take constant feedback that does not only improve the work at hand, but also provides an opportunity for the individual to personally develop are all values which should become implemented in any industry that mandates teamwork. For this position, I am helping the project management body deliver an organisational change project. This consists of delivering a set of Atlassian software which includes Jira software, Jira Work Management, and Confluence with the purpose of transforming the organisation to adopt Scrum principles. As a part of this project, I have learnt how to use this range of software and train various departmental teams to integrate this software into their daily operations at the Children's Cancer Institute while demonstrating how to cooperate with one another via Scrum.
