As a scientist, my goal has been making science more accessible to varying audiences. I aim to provide accurate, yet digestable, information to audiences with varying backgrounds.I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Nowosad Lab studying intestinal B cells at homeostasis and in IBD. During my PhD, I examined Germinal Center B cell selection defects in the pathogenesis of lupus to determine what becomes dysregulated in lupus specifically. My expertise in peripheral B cells in disease has provided me with a broad understanding of aberrations in disease.I have mentored 10 junior PhD students and assisted people at varying levels of training (high school students through PIs) on various techniques and equipment specific to our lab. I greatly enjoy mentoring other students as well as educating the general population on my work and its importance.I also was a Science Writing Intern at Soligenix, Inc. during my PhD, which allowed me to write summaries on new disease areas weekly for the CSO and CMO of the company. My goal had been to find out everything that is known on a specific prompt, write a review on it, and submit it to the CSO every week. This helped me learn how to take in massive amounts of information that I had or had not previously been familiar with and turn it around into a digestable article.

Medical WriterAlphabet Health May 2024 - PresentNew York, New York, UsAs a Medical Writer with Alphabet Health, I work with our industry partners to deliver their clinical results to the world. I write and edit congress abstracts, data-driven manuscripts, and perspective-focused manuscripts as well as generate congress posters and oral presentation slides. -
Postdoctoral Research FellowNyu Grossman School Of Medicine Aug 2023 - May 2024New York, New York, UsAs a postdoctoral fellow, I optimized our purpose-built imaging platform to visualize signal transduction in intestinal B cells. I have been developing plasma membrane sheets to facilitate this visualization. We will be observing and quantifying B cell signal transduction at the steady state and in IBD to determine what signalling pathways are perturbed to facilitate disease pathology. -
Research InternSoligenix, Inc. Jun 2022 - Aug 2023Princeton, Nj, UsAs an intern for Soligenix, a late-stage biopharmaceutical company, I performed literature searches and wrote summaries on various ailments and treatment options of interest. This also doubled as competitive intelligence, as I would research what other companies were doing to make sure that we were up-to-date and aware of what other groups were doing. I met with the Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer every week to discuss what I submitted the previous week, and what I should work on for the coming week. The topics can change weekly, keeping me up-to-date on many fields in the biomedical sciences field. -
Phd CandidateRutgers Biomedical And Health Sciences Aug 2018 - Aug 2023Newark, Nj, UsAs a PhD candidate, I worked to identify the selection defect in Germinal Center B cells in systemic autoimmunity with the goal of elucidating the pathway that permits self-reactive B cells to not only survive, but to differentiate and perpetuate. My research has provided insight that will allow the identification of more specific therapeutic targets for lupus patients as opposed to the current options, which leave the patient immunocompromised. Thus, my research ultimately will improve the quality of life of lupus patients.I have been able to train 6 PhD rotation students (3 of which have joined our lab for their thesis research) as well as one technician, one high school student, and one undergraduate student. Furthermore, I am responsible for training people from other labs (including other PIs) on various techniques and equipment unique to our lab. My research has allowed me to excel at ELISAs, ELISpots, confocal microscopy, cryostat usage, as well as various mouse handling skills that include breeding, generating complex mouse lines, intraperitoneal injections, intravenous injections (via retroorbital route), sub-cutaneous injections, and intranasal injection. -
