Volunteer Coordinator
CurrentHeralding in the newly interested volunteers for AFSP is an absolute joy! Knowing the why behind each individual's desire to give their time means I get to connect one on one, and find the best fit. I follow up on leads obtained via volunteer sign-ups at events, contacting people individually and getting them to fill out our online application. Welcoming new applicants and creating volunteer review packets with resources are part of my process to ensure volunteers are well versed on American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the opportunities available. I conduct quarterly meetings with new volunteers and conduct "Volunteer 101" workshops.Placing volunteers in positions with events and committees in their preferred location and type of service is key to maintain volunteer retention and support, while ensuring we don't burn out our longstanding volunteers. We could not do the work we do without the commitment of every last one! My goal is currently to grow the Arizona Chapter volunteer base by 10% over the next year with 100% retention.
Annual Walk Chair
CurrentFor the 2018 Tucson Out of the Darkness Community Walk I served as Chairperson overseeing all aspects of the walk from volunteer recruitment to vendor relations. My emphasis was on providing a healing environment and supporting all those impacted by suicide. I successfully implemented training for all volunteers as well as training walk committee members and have excellent retention in our walk volunteer core as a result of continuous learning and feedback. With the assistance of a devoted group of volunteers, we reached our goal of over $70,000 and had over 1100 registered attendees. Plans for next year's walk include creating a walk reflecting the diversity of our community and involving gamification of our fundraising efforts and livestreaming sessions leading up to the event. In 2019 we increased our attendance to approximately 1300 and have already begun our sponsorship quest for 2020.
Executive Board Treasurer
I served as the top volunteer financial officer of the Chapter, monitoring the Chapter’s finances and ensuring they were maintained and managed in accordance with AFSP Bylaws, Policy and Chapter Operating Procedures, as well as all applicable federal and state laws. My responsibilities included leading the process of preparing the annual chapter budget based on the chapter’s business plan, monitoring chapter spending against approved budget, presenting and explaining Chapter financial reports prepared by the AFSP National Accounting Department to the Board at all Chapter meetings, safeguarding all cash collections at walks/events and working closely with AFSP’s National Finance Team.

Development Associate
Development Associate
As Development Associate I planned, executed, and measured all fundraising for Tucson Wildlife Center. I was responsible for Donor Stewardship through our CRM. Outreach to both civic groups, government, and educational institutions wass done by our Education Coordinator and myself. I assisted in planning the annual Gala as Auction Chair, soliciting over $107,000 in silent auction donations. I was responsible for the development of our Planned Giving program, in addition to Major Gifts and all donor recognition and appreciation.
Community Engagement Specialist
Delivering customer delight to the users of TurboTax by resolving their issues and making the care connection with each and every person. As a member of the Seasonal Tax Support team onsite in Tucson, I was challenged every day by the new obstacles that were presented in a variety of ways by the customer contacts. I answered contacts for both product support and tax support, which requires a good understanding of tax forms, filing statuses, and IRS web navigation as well as TurboTax Online, desktop, and mobile application. It is a high volume contact position, involving video display, audio through headsets, and efficient use of multiple tools and skills. Employing virtual education platforms for training is critical! Having displays on multiple monitors, using Salesforce, AgentPortal, TurboTax versions for each year, Slack, Outlook, Jive, Box and so many other tools was exciting and offered learning opportunities at every turn. Logging customer contacts with detailed notes and adhering to the strictest privacy and security policies to protect our customers, our company, and ourselves was essential on each call. Active listening, compassion, and staying current on updates from many sources all aid in resolving the issue for the customer and creating a positive experience. Acting as manager of the Tucson Intuit walk group for AFSP's Out of the Darkness walk and an outreach to other areas of Intuit's We Care & Give Back were additions to my managerial experience and another opportunity to show my passion for non-profits. Data analysis, metrics and tNPS review became as essential as any previous position where asset management and prospectus generation are key.
Training Specialist/Customer Service
As is the nature of temporary work, I was employed by many different companies in a variety of businesses. I first began training others through temporary work, often providing key feedback to the creators of training and development programs for improvement. Retention was always critical especially in high-turnover fields such as call-center work and email response. I also led the Charitable Giving Department implementing new events for fundraising and changing the way they thought about sponsorships. I also evaluated and assisted implementation of e-communications development and utilized Excel for many purposes within each company. I channeled multiple line phone systems for a busy IT Help Desk, and answered customer service lines at several different businesses. I organized promotions and street team development while keeping marketing/promo integration and fan base focused and clearly outlined. I learned very quickly in promotions and had a crash course on disaster aversion. Within event and trade show roll-out I created crisis communication and support workflow to maintain effective vendor/client relations.
Administrative Assistant
As the point of contact for Director of Information Technology I developed and maintained departmental filing system for the group, while acting as a liaison with other departments, and outside agencies including service contract maintenance and renewal. I was responsible for general correspondence and ad-hoc projects for the director in addition to coordinating and organizing meetings, department activities and functions. I participated actively in all extra-curricular work opportunities, as working for a nonprofit was a dream career for me, and still is. I provided administrative support or assistance in certain defined areas to the director or any other office personnel when needed including maintaining office supply and equipment maintenance schedule, EULA management and purchase orders submissions. I was responsible for handling personnel files and records, and cross-checking references and job history. My financial background also enabled me to assist accounting with departmental reimbursements and expenses.
