Ginger LaSalle began her studies at Holyoke Community College on a Hospitality Scholarship from a classic New England Inn where she worked as a server. The restaurant experience and courses quickly led to a passion for the hospitality industry. In 2004, she transferred to Johnson & Wales University to further her education with a bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management. While finishing her degree, she apprenticed at a restaurant in Rhode Island in the wine department, shortly thereafter becoming the Assistant Wine Director. With a continuing desire to further educate herself, Ginger re-enrolled in courses at Johnson & Wales finishing with a Level III Advanced Certificate from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and added further study at the CIA-Greystone’s Wine Program and Camp Schramsberg, an in-depth study on sparkling wines. This culminated in her becoming part of the opening team for the newest restaurant in a renowned hospitality group in Rhode Island, where she was the Dining Room Manager and Wine Director. Her career there was filled with many wonderful mentors and acquaintances who helped fuel her fire and desire to learn.Her increasing passion for wine assisted with the decision to move her family to West Virginia and take on the role of Sommelier and eventually Food & Beverage Manager of the Main Dining Room at the Greenbrier. Here, she has become a certified sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers as well as finalizing the WSET Diploma program. In the next year she hopes to enter the Master of Wine program and further her studies.
