I am a writer, educator, storyteller, and program coordinator who loves words and people. I have extensive experience in early learning, literacy, and literature. Growing up with limited opportunities, my career has been dedicated to supporting children and families across many communities.My journey began with an M.A. in Children’s Literature. It then branched out to diverse paths where my written and oral communication skills have contributed to the important work done by organizations, professionals, and students in academia, early learning, literacy, disability, literary arts, libraries, and newcomer agencies. These paths may have diverged, but they are all grounded in the power of story. The words we choose, the words we use, matter. A thoughtful anecdote concretizes a report or grant application. A well-told tale engages a class of students. Books shared through a considered curriculum spark a child’s love of learning. Common characters, problems, and resolutions connect and build communities.
