I am interested in using my skills and experience as a teacher in career opportunities beyond the classroom. My years and broad experience in the teaching profession are an ideal foundation for positions in academic design, editing, publishing, and technology . Throughout my career, I have demonstrated the ability to implement innovative pedagogical ideas and technology, engage my students, and work collaboratively. With my classroom knowledge, positive attitude, and adaptability, I am highly motivated to embark on a new direction in education.As an educator, with credentials in secondary English and elementary, and an M.A. in Ed. Psychology, I have taken on and embraced the challenges of evolving state standards, curriculums, and technology. Along with my partner teachers, I have been at the forefront of Common Core curriculum committees in math and language arts, Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Mathematics (STEAM) programs, and Response to Intervention (RTI) literacy analysis. Not only do I use the latest technology in my classroom on a daily basis, I teach students, and often times, adults, on how to use the equipment. I have assisted teachers, students, and parents with web-based programs and sites that allow communication outside of the classroom and access to learning materials at all times. These programs include Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, curriculum apps such as HMH, TCI, StemScopes, iReady, and much more. I have been with the award-winning Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District for almost twenty years. During my time teaching at the elementary and middle school levels, I participated in P.T.A. and Booster Club meetings, district fundraisers, and community programs supporting our schools. I have spent several years on our site leadership council, ran student government and the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) programs, and have taught parents how to support their children through educational evenings. I have also taken on the role of Supervising Teacher for a student teachers in training. I have always valued the importance in gaining trust and building relationships between our schools, parents, and the community in order to provide the best education possible for our students.
