As a writer, I've always tried to use a straight forward writing style with what is often a highly technical subject matter. Humor is something that I try to incorporate when possible since we all need to enjoy ourselves. Being a good writer has been critical to every job I've had. Granted I started out as a Tech Writer, then became a Marketing Copywriter (and I won numerous awards for my writing in these jobs), but even as a Sales Rep, preparing a coherent sales proposal is more often than not key to closing a sale. Since my hobby has been breeding sled dogs for many years now, I write extensively for the dog fancy. I've been editor of a national newsletter, wrote numerous articles, and worked on a major full-color magazine as one of the editorial staff. This has led me to a whole new realm of learning in biology and genetics -- I'm a bit of a science geek and I love constant learning. It has challenged me to successfully up my writing game to the point that I've won multiple Awards of Excellence from the Dog Writers Association of America, our equivalent of the Pulitzers. I currently have a book in process on a rare American dog breed that is requiring a great deal of research and will be the project of a lifetime for me.
